Five new judges sworn-in HC

Chennai, July 31 (UNI) Five newly appointed judges were today sworn-in as Additional Judge of Madras High Court, taking the total strengh of judges to 43 against the sanctioned strength of 49, including seven in Madurai bench.

Chief Justice A P Shah administered the oath of office to the new judges-Mr Justice K Venkataraman, Mr Justice K Chandru, Mr Justice V Ramasubramanian, Mr Justice S Manikumar and Mr Justice A Selvam at a simple function at the high court premises here this morning.

After the swearing-in Advocate General and Presidents of various Advocates' Association, Bar Association and Chairman of Bar council of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry and the women lawyers' association welcomed the new judges. The new judges thanked the bench and the bar.

The President A P J Abdul Kalam, last week, appointed the five additional judges in that order of seniority.
