Electricity from sea-waves

New Delhi, July 31 (UNI) Minister of Earth Sciences Kapil Sibal today informed the Rajya Sabha that National Institute of Ocean technology, an organisation under his ministry has set up a wave energy demonstration power plant at Vizhinjam, Kerala, which is working on experimental basis.

However, this type of land-based plant is not cost effective and the research in this regard is continuing, Mr Sibal said and added that presently, there is no scheme to set up more such plants.
