CPI increases by two points
Shimla, July 31 (UNI) All India Consumer Price Index Number for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW), on base 2001-100, increased by two points to stand 123 in June this fiscal, Labour Bureau sources today said.
The index recorded the highest increase of seven points in Nagpur centre, five points in two centres of Labac Silcher and Kodarma, and of four points each in three centres of Bhavnagar, Rangapara-Tezpur and Giridih, as compared to the previous month.
The sources said the index increased by three points in eight centres of Bhilawara, Faridabad, Himachal Pradesh, Bhilai, Quilon, Bhopal, Varanasi and Ahmedabad and by two points in 20 centres and one point in 30 centres.
The index decreased by two points in Tiruchirapally centre, one point each in four centres of Coonoor, Salem, Guwahati and Chennai), while remaining stationary in nine centres.
The Nagpur centre recorded the maximum increase of seven points where sources attributed this, increase to rise in the prices of rice, wheat, milk, vegetables and fruits, tea (readymade), while Tiruchirapally centre, on the other hand, experienced a decrease of two points due to a fall in the price of rice.
Mumbai recorded the index at 126 followed by 125 at Bangalore, 122 at Delhi, 120 each Ahmedabad and Kolkata and 117 at Chennai, the sources added.
