Charges framed against Kirti Azad
Darbhanga, July 31 (UNI) A local court today framed charges against former Test cricketer Kirti Azad and four others in connection with a criminal case related to disrupting government work.
First Class Judicial Magistrate Parimal Kumar Mothit framed the charges against the ex-MP under sections 144, 353, 427 and 504 of IPC.
The others against whom charges were framed are former BJP district president Jagdish Shah, member of the district peace committee Kartikaye Kumar, senior BJP leader Ramesh Pradhan and Sanjaya Sharabji BJP MLA from Darbhanga.
According to the charges the accused, accompanied by thousands of people, had ransacked the office of General Manager of Mithila regional electricity board on May 23, 2001 and had created obstacles in government functioning.The case was registered by Deputy General Manager of the board Madan Prasad.
Mr Azad, who is on bail in connection with the case, had appeared before the court. He was granted bail on January 14, 2003.
