Centre releases sugar to Kerala
Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 31 (UNI) The Centre today released 3,600 tonnes of levy sugar to Kerala as the annual festival quota.
This is part of a total of 10,607 tonne of levy sugar as the festival quota which is released to six states and Union territories.
Lakshadweep has been allotted 22 tonne of levy sugar, an official release said.
The levy sugar is meant for distribution through Public Distribution System(PDS)for the Below Poverty Line(BPL) in the state and Union territories except the North Eastern states, hilly states and island territories of Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, where universal coverage is allowed.
