Trials for SAF games held at NIS

Patiala, July 30 (UNI) The day-night national trials were held here today at the Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports in eight events to select the Indian athletic contingent for the SAF Games beginning in Colombo on August 18.

No spectacular performance was visible during the trials watched by a handful of sportspersons.

Talking to UNI, Athletic Federation of India secretary Lalit Bhanot, said ''We are fielding almost a second string team in the SAF Games,'' though the fact, according to a national athletic coach, is that India will be sending its second string athletes to Colombo only in 400m (men).
