Rape accused convicted, trial concludes in two days

Sasaram, July 30: The district and sessions judge of Rohtas, Arun Kumar Srivastava concluded the trial of a rape case within two days and sentenced the accused to seven years imprisonment.

Mr Shrivastva recorded the statement of the victim, doctors who examined her and the investigating officers concerned within two days.

Sources said a minor girl was raped by a married man on December 23 last year.

An FIR was lodged against the accused, Gajendra Chaudhary with Dawath police station on the same day.

During medical test conducted at Bikramganj, the medical board confirmed the crime.

The police arrested the accused on March 21 this year and submitted the charge sheet on April 13. After framing charges in the case on July 19, the case was referred to the district and session judge Rohtas.

Mr Shrivastva has a recored of delivering justice at the earliest. He had handed out life imprisonment to all the nine accused in a kidnapping case within 17 days of the trial.

Earlier the same judge Arun Kumar Shrivastva on May 25 had concluded a trial within 17 days and awarded life imprisonment to all nine accused of a sensational kidnapping case of a doctor and fined Rs 15 lakh, which would be recovered from the moveable and immoveble property of the accused. The amount would be given to the doctor and his driver as compensation.

Doctor Shashi Kumar Sinha of Dehri-On-Sone in Rohtas district and his driver were kidnapped by some armed criminals on February 7 when they were on the way to the doctor's private clinic in a car at Ilothu on March 10.

Police had recovered the doctor and his driver Salauddin from a village in Aurangabad district.

Nine criminals were arrested from the spot and Patna with the ransom amount.

After further investigation, police filed a chargesheet on April 12 against eleven persons, nine of them were already in judicial custody.

The two others were declared absconders. On the request of the S P Rohtas N H Khan, District and Sessions judge Rohtas Arun Kumar Shrivastva agreed for speedy trail of the case.

The charges against the accused were framed on May 3 this year.

The trial began on May 5 after 17 days of continuous hearing of the case, a judgement was finally pronounced on May 25.

Mr Shrivastva also examined Judicial Magistrate B K Mishra as witness, who had recorded the statement of the abducted doctor's son Amit Kumar.
