Over 150 houses gutted in fire
Cuddalore, July 30 (UNI) Over 150 huts were today destroyed in a fire at Nedungulam village in Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu.
Fire service sources said though there was no loss of life in mishap, household articles were destroyed.
On information, fire tenders from different parts of the district rushed to the spot and put out the fire. The cause of the fire was not immediately known, the sources added.
Dalit Panthers of India (DPI) Joint General Secretary Selvaperunthagai, who repersents Mangalore (reserve) constituency in the State Assembly, under which the Nedungulam village falls, rushed to the spot accompanied by revenue officials.
They arranged for relief materials for the victims.
Mr Selvaperunthagai told UNI that after returning to Chennai, he would take up the matter with the Tamil Nadu Government and arrange rehabilitation measures also for the victims.
