MP to take all possible steps to develop full potential of children

Budhni, MP, July 30 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said the state government would take all possible steps to develop full potential of children in government schools through effective implementation of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

Mr Chouhan was speaking while inaugurating 'Gyanodaya' scheme -- launched under the joint auspices of Madhya Pradesh Power Development Corporation, Intel and NIIT at a cost of Rs 50 lakh -- at government higher secondary school here.

A lot of potential was hidden in children studying government schools and efforts were being made to make the best out of it by providing adequate facilities.

Mr Chouhan said the schemes aimed at providing best education to children.

He expressed happiness over 14 students from government schools securing merit list. Advising young students to acquire computer knowledge, he hoped the initiative would help to spread computer education and literacy far and wide in the state.

Referring about 'School Chalo Abhiyan' scheme, he said about 2.72 lakh children were deprived of school education last year and the government was taking steps to ensure that none remained deprived of school education this year.

Emphasising on the need for eradicating illiteracy in the state, he said both guardians and society had to play an important role in it.

He said the government had started tree plantation programmes and forest officials had been directed to increase participation of children and implementing the scheme through schools.

NIIT's L Balasubramanian said computer education would not only raise education levels of schools but also increase ability of students.

The scheme had been started in Budhni and Narsinghpur districts at present. It is expected to benefit about 2,000 children.
