Misuse of Conversion will be opposed: Venkaiah
Hyderabad, July 30 (UNI) Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President and Rajya Sabha Member Venkaiah Naidu today said National Minorities Commission should know that there is no right to indulge in conversion in the country.
Talking to newspersons here, he said it was unfortunate that the Commission was finding faults with Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Gujarat Governments for bringing in legislation with regard to religious conversions.
Mr Naidu said the Commission should know that Indian Constitution provides right to preach, profess and propagate any religion in the country.
He said every State, including Andhra Pradesh, should bring in such legislation in the larger interest of the country. ''If there is no legislation regarding conversions, there would be total social disharmony in the country,'' he alleged.
He said the BJP was always at the forefront on the religious conversions issue in the country. The religious propagation in Tirupathi, was also brought to light by the party, he added.
He said in future protest demonstrations would be organised under the aegis of BJP in connection with this issue.
