Counting begins in CAB elections
Kolkata, July 30 (UNI) Counting of votes to decide the fate of Jagmohan Dalmiya began around 2045 hrs soon after polling to the elections to the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) ended at the Eden Gardens here tonight.
A total of 118 representatives of various clubs, universities, districts and associations cast their ballots to decide who would rule the CAB for the next one year -- Jagmohan Dalmiya or Prasun Mukherjee.
Jagmohan Dalmiya has been challenged by Prasun Mukherjee, the city police commissioner backed by West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya.
A win for Dalmiya is crucial since the CAB platform is essential to fight the present Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regime that has slapped on him charges of fund misappropriation.
