Rains dampen life in Bengal

Kolkata, July 29 (UNI) An alert was sounded in coastal Bengal and fishermen were warned against venturing into the deep sea as rains since last night have affected life across the state.

Waterlogging triggered by monsoon rains in different parts of the city also affected traffic and officegoers had a tough time making it to their destination.

Black clouds overcast the city sky, signalling more rainfall as cyclonic weather thickened on the Bay of Bengal, weathermen said here today.

The rains also brought much relief to the people from the extreme humid conditions prevailing for the past few days.

The maximum temperature was recorded at 31.6 degrees Celsius while the minimum was 25.5 degrees.

The rainfall in the last 24 hours was 25 mm.

Met office forecast intermittent rains and heavy showers in some parts of the city.
