Youths breaching PM residence security arrested
New Delhi, Jul 28: The three youths, including two airhostesses, who breached security at the Prime Minister's official residence here last night while a meeting of the cabinet committee on security was going on, were today arrested and charged with tresspassing and impersonation.
The three, Yogita Khatwani, Veena Chowdhary and their friend Imran, all in their 20s, had sailed past the first gate at the Prime Minister's residence, allegedly saying they were PM's relatives. They were, however, turned away from the second gate after it was found they had no appointment.
Surprisingly, their car was allowed to leave from the exit gate and only following a hue and cry raised by the media after one of the girls blew kisses at cameramen waiting at the gate, did the security apparatus kick into action.
The trio were intercepted near INA Market in South Delhi and taken to Chanakyapuri Police Station for questioning. Medical checkup was also conducted to ascertain whether they were under the influence of liquor or drugs.
Meanwhile, the PMO claimed it was not a security breach. People could come upto the reception, saying they have an appointment. But only those with genuine appointments were allowed further and others were turned away, it was stated.
Breach or not, it was definately a lapse which left quite a few red faces in the Special Protection Group.
Sahara Airlines, with which the two girls were employed, has since terminated their services.
