Launching 24-hour weather channel considered

New Delhi, Jul 27: The Government is considering launching a 24-hour dedicated weather channel, Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi told the Rajya Sabha today.

''The feasibility of launching this channel is being explored in consultation with leading broadcasters in the country,'' Mr Dasmunsi said in a written reply.

The channel, which is proposed to be operational in the next two years, is a project of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and not of the Prasar Bharati, he said.

Once, it comes into being, it will greatly benefit the society, especially the farmer, he said.
