Evidence there against 6 arrested in blasts case

Mumbai, Jul 26: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil today said there was evidence of the links of six persons arrested in connection with the July 11 serial bomb blasts, with Pakistan-based terrorist organisations.

After the weekly Cabinet meeting, Mr Patil told reporters that he would not be able to give more details but admited that ''there were evidences.'' He said the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), Mumbai police and the Central agencies are working in tandem and soon they will come out with full evidence.

Mr Patil also said the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) was sufficient to book the culprits and there was no need of any other stringent law.

He said a study group would be set up within a week comrpising retired officers from police and other central agencies on how to maintain the security of big cities like Mumbai.

He also said sufficient protection will be given to the authorities of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation for demolishing the 'Sara Sahara' property, belonging to Dawood Ibrahim, the prime accused in the March 12, 1993 serial bomb blasts.

Mr Patil said a special cell will be constituted in State intelligence department to gather the information about those suspected in the blasts.
