BJP chief urges President to sack Amarinder Singh govt
Hoshiarpur, July 26 (UNI) The BJP today urged President A P J Abdul Kalam to sack the Congress government of Capt Amarinder Singh following the Supreme Court notice to the state government on the registration of cases against its ministers and top functionaries under the Anti-Corruption Act.
Leader of the BJP legislature group in Punjab assembly, Tikshan Sud today told reporters here the party would raise this issue in the coming monsoon session of the state assembly.
He said notice was issued by the Apex Court on a petition filed by Dr Rattan Singh of the SAD (B), who had sought directions seeking registration of FIRs against state ministers Mr Lal Singh and Mr Partap Singh Bajwa and Mr Harbans Lal, Parliamentary Secretary indicted by the former Lokpal.
Apart from them, criminal cases under the Anti-Corruption Act against Mr Shamsher Singh Dullo, President PPCC, former Minister Mr Lakhmir Singh Randhawa and Sanjit Kumar Sinha, Chairman Punjab Public Service Commission and former Principal Secretary of Chief Minister Amarinder Singh.
He strongly criticised Capt Singh for giving ''clean chit'' to all these people, including ministers, who were trapped by the former Lok Pal.
''Instead of giving resignation on moral grounds, Capt Amarinder Singh was trying to protect corrupt persons of his cabinet by giving them clean chit'', he said.
He also lashed out at Capt Singh for retracting from his earlier statement that the Congress would deny party tickets to tainted Ministers and MLAs.
''He has now backed out from the above statement saying the media had misquoted him. This exposes his attitude thoroughly,'' Mr Sud said.
