Tension in Ranaghat station over abondoned suitcase

Ranaghat, Jul 25 (UNI) Tension gripped the railway station here in the Nadia district after passengers spotted an abondoned suitcase in the platform.

On being informed, senior GRP officials closed the gate leading to the platform and the adjacent ticket counter.

The train passengers were also stopped from getting near to the suitcase, GRP's officer in-charge Gaur Sundar Roy said adding that nothing incriminating had so far been noticed.

The bomb squad had been called in to check the suitcase, he said.

However, railway movement remained normal and passengers were given access from other gates of the station.

Senior GRP and RPF officials were investigating the matter.
