TDP wants Govt to act to curb price rise
Hyderabad, July 25 (UNI) The Telugu Desam Party today put pressure on the Congress Government to effectively intervene in the market to bring the 'skyrocketing' prices of essential commodities under control.
A delegation of TDP legislators led by its Legislature Party Deputy leader K Kala Venkata Rao called on Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and complained that despite review meetings held by him, the prices had not come down.
The main opposition party wanted the government to urge the Centre to implement the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme in all the districts in the state which received scanty rainfall, so far, this year.
The government should provide adequate funds to the Markfed and Civil Supplies Corporation for immediate market intervention to provide relief to the common man reeling under severe price rise, Mr Rao told reporters at the Secretariat later.
Expressing concern over high incidence of Chikungunya viral fever across the state, the TDP legislators wanted the government to gear up the administrative machinery to help the affected.
