Soren kicks off "Jharkhand Dandi March"

Jamshedpur, July 25 (UNI) Jharkhand Mukti Morcha supremo and Union coal minister Sibu Soren today kicked off a 15-day-long''Janjagaran Padayatra (Mass awakening March)'' to expose the ''corrupt'' NDA government in the state.

Mr Soren led the 30-km march at Baharagora in East Singhbum district along with senior party leaders including Jharkhand Assembly's opposition leader Sudhir Mahto, Jamshedpur MP Sunil Mahto, MLAs Dulal Bhuiyan and Champai Soren upto Chakulia.

About 2000 activists took part in the march, which was dubbed by the party as ''Dandi March of Jharkhand''.

The march would culminate at the statue of the slain JMM leader Nirmal Mahto on August 8 here on the occasion of'' Martyr's day'' after covering twin districts of East and West Singhbhum and Seraikella-Kharsawan.

Talking to UNI after taking part in the march, Sudhir Mahto said a constitutional crisis was developed in the state and the Arjun Munda government had totally failed to fulfil the aspirations of the people.

He said the BJP-led government had lost its moral right to continue in power and urged Governor Syed Sibte Razi to use his constitutional right to pull down the ''inefficient'' government immediately.
