Judicial probe should include 'bribery charges' too : BJP

New Delhi, July 25 (UNI) Karnataka BJP President Sadananda Gowda today said that his party would urge state Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy to include 'bribery' charges if it did not find a mention in the terms of reference for the judicial probe set up to look into the allegations of illegal mining.

Reacting to the reports to this effect, Mr Gowda, who is currently attending the monsoon session of Parliament told newspersons that the BJP wanted a full fledged probe into the allegations made. The allegations could not be bypassed, he added.

Mr Gowda said the BJP had suspended Mr Janardhana Reddy, MLC after he levelled charges against the CM after getting approval from the central leadership. "We would have been satisfied if he had provided any evidence to substantiate his allegations. He could not produce any when we asked and hence the party took disciplinary action giving him a week's time to submit his reply," he said adding the party was left with no alternative but to act as he had 'crossed his limits'.

The BJP leader said if Mr Reddy were to come out with plausible explanation and evidences, the party could reconsider its decision.

The BJP Legislature Party and the state executive, had approved action against Mr Reddy.

Mr Gowda said he and other Karnataka MPs had brought to the notice of Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee against deleting Kannada from the list of languages for simultaneous translation. It is ironic the Parliament was relegating Kannada to the backseat when the demand of six crore Kannadigas wanting the Centre to recognise Kannada as a 'classical language' before the government.

The MPs from Karnataka from all the parties will discuss the issue and take an unanimous stand on the issue soon.

About the demand of Marathi speaking MLAs from Karnataka for including Marathi dominated areas of the state with Maharashtra, he said his party's stand was clear that the issue was settled by the Mahajan Commission which went into the issue and its report should be binding.
