Dacoits loot Rs 2.5 lakh from Allahabad Bank
Purulia, July 25 (UNI) Six dacoits from Jharkhand today looted Rs 2.5 lakh from Allahabad Bank, Jhapra branch, after firing at policeman, Deputy Superintendent of police Ashoke Kumar Prasad said.
The constable was admitted with bullet injury to a state owned hospital at neighbouring Bankura district.
Police said the dacoits barged in the public sector bank at 1200 hrs, situated at remote village of this Maoist dominated district, and grabbed Rs 2.52 lakh from the counter at gun point.
When the armed policeman on duty resisted, the dacoits fired a shot injuring him seriously and fled towards Jharkhand in the west before any further resistance.
No arrest was made in this connection and police sealed the border.
