Bush US troop presence in Iraq to be increased
WASHINGTON, July 25 (Reuters) President George W Bush said today the United States would boost the presence of US troops and Iraqi security personnel in Baghdad in an effort to curb the violence in the capital.
Bush told reporters he and Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki discussed the plan at a meeting at the White House. He said forces would be moved to the capital from other areas of the country.
''Our military commanders tell me that this deployment will better reflect the current conditions on the ground in Iraq,'' Bush said.
