Bank employee unions to observe one-day strike on July 28 in HP

Shimla, July 25 (UNI) Banking services across Himachal Pradesh will be affected on Friday with three bank employee unions deciding to observe a one-day strike against the Central government's decision to outsource banking and clearing operations.

The unions seek the withdrawal of RBI circular on outsourcing of banking and clearing operations, amendment to Section 12 (2) of Banking Regulation Act on removal of ceiling on voting rights in banks, general secretaries of All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA), All India Bank Officers' Association (AIBOA) and Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFI) said in a release here.

They said outsourcing of banking operations and clearing operations would led to exploitation of the employees by the contractors.

The government instead of filling up about one lakh jobs in various banks to streamline its functions was taking decisions that were not in the intrests of the country and its banks, they said.

All the recent decisions of the government would make Indian banks subservient to foreign multinationals, they said.

They said the United Front of the Bank Unions (UFBUs) have also decided to support their Friday's strike.
