Apex court stays criminal proceedings against M F Hussain

New Delhi, July 25 (UNI) The Supreme Court today stayed till further orders the criminal procedings pending against noted painter M F Hussain in Bhopal District Court for making obscene and objectionable paintings of Hindu gods and goddesses and 'Bharat mata'.

A bench comprising Justices B N Agarwal and P P Naolekar passed the stay order on a transfer petition seeking transfer of the case from Bhopal to Delhi.

Already there are two cases pending against him in Patila House Courts in New Delhi. The court also issued notice to the state of MP before the bench today.
