AP HC directive on post-mortem of naxal bodies

Hyderabad, July 25 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh High Court today directed the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Markapuram, to conduct post-mortem on eight slain Maoist leaders, including its State Secretary Madhav, in the presence of two forensic experts guided by video photography.

A Division Bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court comprising Chief Justice G S Singhvi and Justice G V Seethapathy passed the orders on a writ petition filed by APCLC leader Subhash Chandra Bose who complained the manner and method in which the Naxals were killed in the Nallamala forest on July 23 gave rise to 'serious doubts' about the 'genuineness' of the encounter.

He said the police had put out contradictory stories on Madhav's death.

Mr Bose also expressed grave concern over 'physical annihilation' of political antagonists of the government by the police in the name of containing extremist activities.

He pleaded with the court for a directive to register a case of murder under sec 302 against the police officers involved in the Nallamala encounter and investigation of the incident in an impartial manner.
