Bellary (Karnataka), Jul 24: Suspended BJP legislator G Janardhana Reddy, whose bribery allegation against Chief Minister H Kumaraswamy snowballed into a major controversy, today filed a private criminal defamatory case against Mr Kumaraswamy and two of his ministerial colleagues without naming their designations.

The case was filed in the Judicial Magistrate First Class Junior Division Court but was yet to be admitted.

Besides Mr Kumaraswamy, the others named in the case were Home Minister M P Prakash and Forests Minister C Chennigappa.

The case has been filed under section 200 of the CrPC.

Talking to reporters here, Mr K Venkatesulu, counsel of Mr Reddy, said the judge posted the hearing of the case for tomorrow and exuded confidence that the case would be admitted.

Mr Reddy's recent allegation that Mr Kumaraswamy and Mr Chennigappa had received a bribe of Rs 150 crore from the mining lobby in the district had created furore with the main opposition Congress demanding the resignation the Chief Minister and a CBI probe into the issue. Though subsequently, Mr Reddy retracted his statement following the intervention of top BJP leaders, he had reiterated his earlier charge in the Legislative Council.
