ZP member lynched to death as he shot dead one person

Bangalore, July 22 (UNI) A Zilla Panchayat member was lynched to death after he gunned down a person besides causing bullet injuries to three others at Vadayur village in Kolar District of Karnataka today.

District Superintendent of Police Ravinder Prasad told UNI that Kolar District ZP Congress member Doddappaiah opened fire when a strong mob of 60-70 tried to attack him and ransack his house demanding impeachment of Kolar Taluk Panchayat President Anasuyamma.

The mob's action was in retaliation to killing of one of their associates, also a Congress member, Jayaram (22).

Mr Prasad said that four people were arrested in this connection and additional force was rushed to the village. Though situation is tense but under control, he added.
