Kanpur, Jul 22: A team comprising environmentalists and students from the US is camping here to conduct research on Ganga and suggest ways to save the river from pollution.

The team, that arrived in Kanpur on July 16, has also included select students of 11 local schools in its mission.

The six-member US delegation, comprising Prof David Black, Martin, Julian, Emilie, Vikki and Kate, was invited to India by a voluntary organisation 'Eco Friends'.

'Eco Friends' president Rakesh yesterday said, they were also aiming to create awareness about Ganga pollution among the students and people.

He informed several research work regarding Ganga and groundwater in the region were also underway.

''We are conducting comprehensive tests to ascertain the level of pollution in Ganga and its ramifications on health and environment,'' he added.
