TN Govt to announce new industrial policy this year

Chennai, July 22 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu government will announce a new Industrial policy this year and constitute a Special Task Force to ensure hassle-free growth of Industries in the State.

Presenting the budget for the year 2006-07, Finance Minister K Anbazhagan said the new policy, to be announced in consultation with the Associations of Industry and Commerce, would encourage and strengthen the leading industries in the State, including leather tanneries and leather goods, textile, automobile and electronic hardware industries.

The policy would provide a boost to the investors to invest in the manufacturing sector of the State and ensure that the products manufactured in Tamil Nadu could compete in international markets on quality and price, besides creating large scale employment opportunities and facilitating industrial development.

He said the Special Task Force, to be headed by the Chief Minister, with the participation of the representatives of Industry and Commerce associations, would resolve the problems in the industries and ensure hassle free growth.

Stating that the government would make Tamil Nadu the leading State in Industrial development, he said within three months of the new government assuming office, major companies like Motorola have established their factories in the State.
