One of the 5 working groups set up on Kashmir starts its meeting

Srinagar, July 22 (UNI) One of the five working groups constituted by the Jammu and Kashmir government on the directions of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to address various issues on Kashmir began its deliberations here today.

Headed by National Minority Commission Chairman Mohammad Hamid Ansari, the group will deliberate on measures to improve the condition of the militancy-affected people and schemes to rehabilitate all orphans and widows in the state.

The Prime Minister had announced at the conclusion of the second roundtable here on May 24-25 that five working groups would be formed to look into broad issues and problems vis-a-vis Kashmir. However, all the separatist organisations, including both factions of the Hurriyat Conference, stayed away from the conference.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, carrying forward the process of constituting the working groups, announced the heads of the group after holding a series of meetings with almost all political parties and groups in the state.

The state government had announced that its General Administration Department (GAD) will work as nodal department for the five working groups.
