Life disrupted in Kashmir due to general strike
Srinagar, Jul 22: Life was today praralysed due to a general strike called by breakaway Hurriyat Conference (HC) in protest against Israeli attacks on Lebanon and Palestine.
Shops and business establishments remained closed and traffic was off the roads. However, some skeleton service was plying on some select routes in the city.
Work in government offices, financial institutions and other semi government organisations was affected due to the strike.
Educational institutions also wore a deserted look becuase of the strike.
A report from Baramulla said a complete shutdown was observed in this and other major towns of north Kashmir in response to the call.
The HC had called for a one-day general strike today against the killing of innocent civilians, including women and children, in Israeli attacks on Lebanon and Palestine.
