Jerusalem, July 22: At least 10 rockets fired by the Lebanese guerrilla group Hizbollah hit towns across northern Israel today, injuring 10 people and damaging two houses, medics and the army said.

A house in the town of Carmiel, about 15 km (10 miles) from the lebanese border, received a direct hit with a rocket, leaving two people with minor injuries, medics said.

Other rockets hit the towns of Nahariya and Rosh Pina, closer to the Lebanese border, medics said.

Israeli troops are massed on the border for a possible large-scale ground offensive against Hizbollah guerrillas holed up in southern Lebanon.

Small units of Israeli troops are already operating in the area, across the border, the military has said, although it has described the operations as ''pinpoint'' incursions rather than a full-scale assault.
