Cong activist, son stabbed to death in Sangli

Sangli (Maharashtra), Jul 22: A Congress activist and his son were brutally murdered near Masuchiswadi Phata on Borgaon-Takari road in Walva tehsil of the district yesterday, police said today.

They said Dileep Sakharam Patil (55) and his son Vikram hailing from Takari village in the district, were going to Islampur from Takari on motor-cycle when some unidentified people attacked them with some sharp weapons including a sword and a knife.

Dileep Patil died on the spot, while his son succumbed to his injuries at a nearyby hospital.

The Congress activist's another son, Vinayak Patil, lodged a complaint with the police against four people suspected of being involved in the crime. However, no arrests have been made so far, police added.
