Women University in Haryana
Chandigarh, July 21 (UNI) The Haryana Government today decided to set up a Women University named after Bhagat Phool Singh at Khanpur Kalan in Sonipat district.
The University would facilitate women in the field of higher education with special emphasis on emerging areas of Information Technology, Computer Education, Medical Sciences, Bio-Technology, Environmental Studies, Technology and Management Studies, an official spokesman said.
The Haryana Cabinet, which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today, decided to issue an ordinance in this regard.
It was decided that the University will have hosted facility for the first few years. After reviewing its progress in few years, the women colleges presently affiliated to Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak and Kurukshetra University would be affiliated to this University.
The Cabinet also approved an additional amount of Rs 14.70 crore to Higher Education Department to set up this university during the current financial year. The state Governor would be the Chancellor of the University.
