Widow in search of justice for the last 14 years
Patna, July 21 (UNI) The Patna High Court today directed the Bihar Director General of Police to appear before it after a widow filed a writ petition saying she was denied justice for the last 14 years.
After hearing arguments of a criminal writ petition filed by Anita Devi, a single bench of Justice Chandramauli Kumar Prasad asked the DGP and also the ADGP (CID) to appear before the court she said the police had failed to put his husband's murderers behind the bars.
Anita Devis husband was killed in 1992 and a case was registered with the police station concerned. Soon after, the case was transerred to the CID which has kept the matter pending so far.
Anguished over the matter, the petitioner filed a criminal writ petition in the High Court in 2004 seeking justice.
The High Court had directed the CID in 2004 itself to complete its investigations and submit a report to the authorities concerned at the earliest or transfer the case to the district police.
