TN calls for simplification of procedures for fund transfer
Thiruvananthapuram, July 21 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government today urged the Planning Commission to simplify the procedures for fund allocation under the Centrally-sponsored schemes to States so that fund transfers are not bogged down by excessive red tape.
Speaking at the Regional Consultations on draft Approach Paper for Eleventh Five Year Plan, Tamil Nadu Planning Board vice-chairman M Naganathan said there was a need to adopt an approach which would be fiscally prudent without being negative or regressive.
Instruments like Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (FRBM) legislation needed to be reviewed in order to provide the flexibilty to translate the lofty ideals into reality, he added.
On the Centrally-sponsored schemes, the Union Government should desist from getting involved with micro-level planning and execution. This was the responsibility and prerogative of states, he said.
