Taking oath in Allah's name Constitutional: Kerala HC
Kochi, July 21 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today held that there is no illegality in taking oath in the name of Allah by the MLAs belonging to the Muslim community.
A division bench comprising Justice K S Radhakrishnan and Justice V Ram Kumar said that every citizen has a fundamental right under the Constitution to entertain such religious belief as may be approved of by his judgement or conscience and to exhibit his beliefs and ideas in such overt manner as enjoined or sanctioned by his religion and further to propogate his religious views.
''In our view, when a person belonging to Muslim community takes oath in the name of Allah, he is not violating any Constitutional provisions. Constitution permits to take oath in the name of God.
Allah is a synonym of God,'' the Court added.
