TADA court directs Delhi cops to furnish undertaking by Aug 1

Mumbai, July 21 (UNI) Designated TADA court at Mumbai today directed the Delhi police to furnish an undertaking before August 1, describing the security arrangement made for extradited gangster Abu Salem while givens his custody to Delhi police to probe an extortion case.

TADA judge P D Khode trying the 1993 serial bomb blast cases in his order also directed the police to submit the details of his case and the nature of investigation which will be carried out by the Delhi police. The court however, reserved its order till August 1, on a plea moved by Delhi police producing a production warrant issued by 'Tees Hazari court' of Delhi seeking custody of the don to enable them to investigate the offense registered by them.

Earlier in response to the Delhi police plea the don had contended before the court that he is ready to face probe before the Delhi police but apprehended that his rival gang may attack him in Delhi.

Meanwhile, Ashok Sarogi, the counsel for Salem, today requested the Tada court to allow one lawyer to accompany Salem while he will be taken to Delhi and also allow Salem to meet with his lawyer once a day while he will be probed by Delhi police. In the related development the court has also reserved its order till August 1, for the announcement of the date to conduct the separate trial of Salem and his associate Ryas Siddique.
