Shinde for popularising Hindi
New Delhi, Jul 21 (UNI) Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde today stressed the need to popularise Hindi and make it a link language in the country.
The Ministry of Power organised the first Akhil Bharatiya Rajbhasha Sammelan here. Inaugurating the one day conference, the Minister said it should become the link language in the country. He said that Hindi is being spoken and understood by the majority of population and that is why it has been given the status of the Raj Bhasha.
Describing Hindi as the language of the masses, and the language of unity, he said, it is our moral, social and constitutional responsibility to make the maximum use of Hindi in work places, so that the common man does not feel neglected.
The Minister said that instead of imposing the language there should be efforts to enrich it by taking inputs from other Indian languages. This will encourage the non-Hindi speaking population to voluntarily adopt Hindi. He appealed to the members of Parliament and government officials to create conducive atmosphere to make Hindi more popular. Mr Shinde also suggested that Hindi Sammelans and Seminars should be organized regularly to promote the language.
Power Secretary, R V Shahi and other senior officers of the Ministry of Power and public sector undertakings were also present.
Earlier the Minister inaugurated a Raj Bhasha exhibition.
The day long deliberations on various aspects of use of Hindi saw the participation of eminent speakers including the Parliamentarians and Intellectuals.
