R S Lodha faces forgery, cheating charges
Nawarangpur, Orissa, July 21 (UNI) A local court today issued notices to R S Lodha, his two sons and partner P L Vadera to appear before it in a case of forgery, cheating and fabricating evidence.
Nawarangpur Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate B K Jena issued notices to R S Lodha, claimant to the Rs 5,000 crore M P Birla group property, his two sons and P L Vadera to appear before him on August 17.
The notices came on a complaint by one Satya Narayan Sharanghi, a share holder and Commercial Manager of Mangalam Timbers, a subsidiary of Aditya Birla Group, alleging that the Lodha and Company registered with the Kolkata chapter of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) had cheated the company by furnishing forged certificate and other documents.
The Lodha and Co was appointed as the Statutory Auditor for the Mangalam Timber Private Limited for 2002-2003 after it submitted that it had 14 members and eligible for becoming the statutory auditor for the company.
However, media reports said that the Lodha and Co has only three members -- Mr Lodha, his two sons and P L Vadera -- contrary to their claim, Mr Sharanghi's counsel told the court.
