Patna-New Delhi Shramjivi blast case hearing on July 24

Jaunpur, July 21 (UNI) The court today posted Patna-New Delhi Shramjivi Express bomb blast case to July 24 for fixing of charges against the three accused.

The bomb blast on July 28, 2005 near Singramau railway station in Jaunpur district had left at least 14 people dead and wounded 90 others.

Meanwhile, the court extended the judicial custody of the accused -- Obaid-ur-Rehman, Hilal-ud-din and Nafikul -- by three days.

The trio were produced before district and sessions judge R P Tripathi under tight security.

Dhirendra Kumar Chaturvedi has already been appointed as 'Nyay Mitra' (amicus curiae) to represent the accused.

During the hearing, Mr Chaturvedi alleged the jail superintendent denied him permission to meet the accused yesterday, despite the court order, therefore he could not argue the case.

The court sought a clarification from the jail authorities in the matter. After a brief arguement between the two parties, the case was postponed.

In May, Hilal-ud-din and Nafikul were brought from Cherallapalli Central Jail, Andhra Pradesh under a warrant, while Obaid-ur-Rehman, a Bangladeshi, was brought here from Murshidabad, West Bengal.
