MPHC adjourns SIMI hearing
Jabalpur, July 21 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh High Court today adjourned by a week a hearing on the bail plea of a SIMI activist arrested for possessing banned literature and fanning communal sentiments.
Justice A K Saksena adjourned the hearing on Kota-resident Mohammad Zafar after the prosecution sought time for presenting documents.
Defence Counsel D K Melani submitted that the accused and five of his friends were apprehended on May 19 merely for possessing certain Urdu magazines and literature.
A Madhya Pradesh Police team from Khandwa raided Zafar's Kota residence with assistance from their Rajasthan counterparts.
On June 1, a district and sessions judge rejected the accused's bail petition.
