Killer of Nepali laboures among 5 ultras killed in Kahsmir
Srinagar, July 21 (UNI) Five militants of Pakistan based Lashker-e- Toiba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), were killed in an encounter with the Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police in south Kashmir today.
One of the slain militant indentified as Arshad Bhai was responsible for the killing of 9 Nepali laboures at Yaripora in Sourth Kashmir on June 20 A police spokesman said troops of 62 RR and SOG on a specific information cordoned off village Sursoonu Yaripora in south Kashmir early this morning to nab militants and their sympathisers.
However, when the village was being sealed, militants hiding there, opened fire and also hurled hand grenades towards the search party.
The fire was returned and in the fierce clash three militants were killed.
A defence ministry spokesman said body of fourth militant was also recovered near the site of encounter.
Police spokesman said the slain militants belonged to LeT and HM. Two of the slain militants were identified as Saleem Nengroo and Moin Ansari, a resident of Partabgunj, Bihar. Three AK rifles, 12 magazines, 150 rounds of ammunition and one mobile phone were recovered from the slain militants.
He said a major tragedy was today averted by alert police party when they detected and defused a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) fitted in a gas cylinder and planted at Wangam Shopian last night to target security forces.
Defence ministry spokesman said another militant was killed at Wampora Kulgam in south Kashmir today.
