IIMB, U21 Global launch joint management programme

Bangalore, July 21 (UNI) The N S Raghavan Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning of the Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore and online graduate school U21Global of Singapore today announced the launch of post-graduate certificate programme, designed exclusively for entrepreneurs and family businesses.

Commenting on the joint programme at the launch ceremony here, IIMB Director Prakash G Apte said recent economic reforms and changes in Government policies have ushered in a new era for business enterprises in the country. The onslaught of e-commerce had enabled globally spread-out companies to conduct business transactions more easily, which had led to a dramatic rise in entrepreneurial activities. This demanded that new generation entrepreneurs be well-grounded in fundamental principals of managing businesses. This programme sought to fulfill this requirement and provide a methodology to equip entrepreneurs with critical business management inputs.

U21Global Chief Academic Officer Michael Goldberg said the programme was designed to balance time constraints that entrepreneurs faced with the value that they get by getting educated in the best business school in India. Entrepreneurs would spend 30 days in a classroom spread over the 16-month course, while the balance would be through use of web-based e-learning.

NSRCEL-IIMB Chairperson Kalyani Gandhi said that in today's competitive scenario, entrepreneurs could not afford to be away from their business for extended periods. Hence, this programme of student-centered online pedagogy would address a long felt need of young entrepreneurs, particularly in family business. The programme would be launched in December and during the first two years, 60 students would be accommodated. After consolidation of the programme, the number of admissions would go up to 500 in five years, she added.

Programme Co-Director and IIMB Professor B Mahadevan said the course fee would be Rs three lakh for residential participants and Rs 2.5 lakh for non-residential participants.
