Gujarat not against 6th Pay Commission: Modi
Gandhinagar, July 21 (UNI) Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today wrote a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh objecting to Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Priyaranjan Das Munsi's allegation that the state Government is against the formation of the Sixth Pay Commission.
The allegations are false and misleading, the Chief Minister said in his letter to Dr Singh, according to an official release here today.
Mr Modi has said the alleged charges levelled by Mr Munsi were baseless, misleading and aimed at defaming the Gujarat Government with an objective to gain political mileage.
Mr Modi has conveyed to the Prime Minister that the Gujarat Government had never objected to the formation of the Sixth Pay Commission. ''In fact, the Gujarat Government has asked the Centre to ensure effective implementation of the reccomendations of the pay commissions. It has also asked the Union Government to call a meeting of the National Development Council for discussing the effective implementation of the recommendations,'' the release added.
Mr Modi has demanded the Centre to issue a report on the opinion of the other state governments regarding the Pay Commission.
