Geelani, supporters protest against Israeli attacks on Lebanon

Srinagar, July 21 (UNI) Chairman of the breakaway Hurriyat Conference (HC) Syed Ali Shah Geelani along with hundreds of his supporters today took to streets to protest against the continued Israeli attacks on Lebanon and Palestinians.

Mr Geelani has called for a general strike tomorrow in protest against the killing of innocent persons, including women and children, in the Israeli attacks.

Mr Geelani, his supporters and the activists of Muslim Khawateen Markaz took to streets at Batmaloo immediately after the Friday prayers were over this afternoon.

After marching through different streets, when the procession reached the headquarters of fire service, police stopped them from proceeding towards the nearby civil secretariat.

Police resorted to mild lathicharge after the processionists, raising anti-United States and Israeli slogans, insisted that they should be allowed to march ahead.
