DUJ demands setting up of Wage Board
New Delhi, July 21 (UNI) The Delhi Union of Journalists (DUJ) today demanded immediate constitution of a wage board for journalists and other newspaper employees in view of the Government decision to set up the sixth pay commission.
''Now that the Union government has announced the formation of the sixth pay commission for its employees it should not shy away from its statutory duty of setting up the Wage board under the Working Journalists' Act,'' DUJ President S K Pande said.
He said the revision of wages for journalists has been pending for a longer period than the government employees.
''The rising cost of living has reduced the present wages of newspersons to a pittance and it is high time that the government immediately initiate steps to constitute the wage board,'' he added.
