Dreaded Haryana criminal Dinesh Gujjar gunned down
New Delhi, July 20 (UNI) A dreaded Haryana criminal was shot dead in a police encounter in Dwarka area of South West Delhi late this evening.
Dinesh Gujjar was killed in return fire by the police, which stopped him at Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology in Dwarka at about 2230 hours, said DCP (Special Cell) Alok Kumar.
Wanted in more than 26 cases of murder, extortion, dacoity and robbery, Gujjar hailed from Panipat in Haryana and was in his car when the encounter took place, he said.
''The encounter followed a tip-off, following which the Gujjar's car was tracked, asked to stop, during which he fired at the police party.'' ''He died while being taken to the Safdarjung Hospital.'' A nine mm pistol was recovered from his possession. He was one of those wanted in last year's Connaught Place shootout, the DCP added.
