Carrying of firearms in West district prohibited till July 30

New Delhi, July 21 (UNI) The Delhi Police has banned with immediate affect carrying of firearms, swords and knives in Delhi's West district till July 30.

According to an order issued by Delhi Police commissioner K K Paul, any person contravening the order would attract punishment under clause (a) of sub section (2) of section 113 of the Delhi Police Act, 1978 which provides punishment from four months to one year besides imposing a fine on the violator.

However, any person believing in Sikh faith may carry or possess with him a kirpan, the order said.
