BJP MLA Madhu Srivastava gets threat mail

Vadodara, July 21 (UNI) Controversial BJP legislator Madhu Srivastava has received a fresh threat letter in connection with his recent confrontation with the management of Parul group of educational institutions.

Confirming that the MLA had received an anonymous threat letter, city police commissioner Deepak Swaroop today said he had ordered a crime branch inquiry in the matter.

The letter, written in Gujarati, warned Srivastava of a murder plan allegedly hatched against him.

When contacted, Srivastava, who already has police protection following repeated threat calls to him because of his controversial role in the Best Bakery case, said though he had received the threat letter ten days back, he had decided to bring it to the notice of the police commissioner only after the elections to the Baroda Dairy were over.

It may be recalled that the BJP MLA was earlier caught on camera in a controversial Tehelka sting operation which showed him admitting that Zaheera had taken Rs 18 lakh to turn hostile before Vadodara trial court. Though the Supreme Court gave him a clean chit, it directed the Vadodara income tax commissioner to probe if there was any financial deal between Srivastava and Best Bakery prime witness Zaheera Sheikh.
